Shore Cottage is a unique detached holiday house bordering the seashore at Ringstead Bay in Dorset. The three double bedrooms each have truly magnificent views over the sea and rolling countryside, and the large grassy garden runs directly over the cliff to the natural shingle beach. The house is surrounded on three sides by National Trust land in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and on the fourth side by the beach looking out across Weymouth Bay towards the Isle of Portland. The beach is beautifully unspoilt and is always safe for swimming except in the worst of storms. The South-West Coast Path passes the door leading to wonderful walks for miles in either direction along the Jurassic Coast, itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The Jurassic Coast includes the impressive Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door and the award-winning sandy beaches of Bournemouth, Sandbanks, Weymouth and Studland are within a short drive. An array of attractions are within easy reach including Monkey World, The Tank Museum, Lulworth Castle, Corfe Castle, Abbotsbury Swannery, Tyneham and a selection of National Trust properties.
Shore Cottage provides the perfect base from which to explore, or if you prefer, just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in peace and solitude.
Our family has been coming to Ringstead Bay for over 100 years across 5 generations. We were lucky enough to be able to buy Shore Cottage in the early 1990s and have enjoyed holidays here ever since. Shore Cottage was built as a finger-shaped flat-roofed house in the 1920s and won an Ideal Home design award for its innovative and distinctive style, although by modern standards it needed bringing up to date. We have completely transformed the cottage, refurbishing throughout and adding a matching wing and an attractive pitched slate roof. The cottage is self-contained and includes everything you would need for a relaxing holiday on the South Coast. We look forward to welcoming you to our piece of paradise!
